An Open Day to remember…

Saturday 27th July our HQ here in North Yorkshire welcomed over 600 people and 12 dogs as we hosted our highest attended and most enjoyable Open Day to date!

With the Yorkshire rain hammering down for most of the day, it didn’t make one ounce of a difference to the smiles on our faces as one customer put it ‘this is real Defender weather’!

Our ‘Defender Parking Only’ row was again full to the brim with new and old models as we showcased some of our newest builds to date. The workshop doors were opened for an exclusive insight into exactly how our talented technicians re-engineer from the base vehicle to a full Twisted.

Our 28-strong team was on hand to answer questions, give tours, and help visitors get the most out of their day. Arguably the most popular talking point of the day was our new, totally fabricated chassis release two weeks earlier at Goodwood Festival of Speed. Our development in ever continuing in the creation of a chassis that gives the Defender the body a platform it deserves and our staff were able to give exciting information to onlookers who made the trip to North Yorkshire.

What also caught the eye was our first Remake History builds, released in January of this year. Our first Series IIA, Lightweight and Stage One V8 were above the ramps mid build which gave Twisted fans the opportunity to check out and explore the vehicles up close giving us some great feedback!

Our brand new V8 demo for 2019 was present boasting newly developed second row air con, alongside Twisted founder Charles Fawcett’s Bahama Gold TD5 and two very special builds heading out the the UAE!

In addition to the vehicles on display, a live DJ called the ‘Compact Disco Defender’, food & drink kept our visitors entertained all afternoon.

Speaking about the open day Charles said: “Our annual open day is an important day in the calendar for us and we were thrilled to welcome a record number of people through our doors.

“We export our vehicles all over the world to places like the USA, Malaysia, the United Arab Emirates and New Zealand, but we are incredibly proud of our identity as a Yorkshire business, and want to be a part of the Thirsk community.

“It’s been another busy 12 months for us, and we’ve also grown our staff significantly to underpin our recent progress, and we were excited to meet new people from around the region, while renewing acquaintances with old friends. The open day is a fantastic way for people to find out more about our brand and see what we do first hand.”
