We were so excited to be at the 2017 Goodwood Festival of Speed this past weekend, where we showcased our new range of Classic Twisted vehicles. Since its establishment in 1993, Goodwood has developed into becoming one of the world’s largest motor sport events, encompassing all things powered, and held each summer at the ‘glorious’ Goodwood Estate in West Sussex. The hill climb event at the Festival takes automobiles from all eras up the driveway and past the Estate’s house, as part of a truly unique show.
Unfortunately, we were unable to make it to last year’s Festival, so we jumped at the chance to return in 2017, to showcase the Classic Twisted vehicles. The fleet we had on site included a Keswick Green 110 Utility, an Indus Silver 110 Station Wagon and a Corris Grey 90 Station Wagon, all proudly built in Thirsk, North Yorkshire. Our early departure time and the miserable weather did little to dampen our excitement when we set off for Goodwood on Wednesday morning, packed with all we need for the four-day event, and with the vehicles heading down on transporters. We arrived on site during the afternoon and had our Twisted stand set up by 9.00pm, ready to welcome the more than 150,000 visitors expected by the event’s organisers.
With the weather improving, we enjoyed a great Thursday and Friday, welcoming plenty of trade to our stand, while enjoying the sights and sounds of Goodwood, including the stars of global motor racing on the timed course, the colourful Red Arrows Display Team and the pirouetting Euro Fighter Tycoon.
Crowds grew even further on Saturday, and, in the now suitably gloriously warm weather we were enjoying, we received plenty of interest in our range of Defender, while the truly sensory Goodwood experience continued with the sounds of high-revving V10 Formula 1 cars and popping turbocharged Group B rally cars, the sights of thousands of beautiful and rare vehicles and the unmistakeable scents of unburnt fuel and tire smoke.
Throughout the rest of the weekend, we continued to welcome a stream of customers old and new to the stand, while showcasing our products to members of the motoring media in attendance. And our pride in the new Classic Twisted range, including eye-catching features such as billet aluminium door handles, was matched by the level of interest in the vehicles. We received nothing but high praise, and it was particularly pleasing to hear from Defender owners, who were quick to recognise the quality of our upgrades. The timeless Keswick Green, front and centre of our stand, was a firm favourite with many visitors.
We once again enjoyed a superb experience at Goodwood, and it’d be remiss of us not to recognise the hard work of the event’s organisers. We’d like to thank Amber from Goodwood Exhibitions Team for all her help towards organising our stand, including a few last-minute changes, plus Guy and Tracey from Concierge Camping for accommodating our team in their amazing safari lodges. Our thanks also go to Jeff and Lou from 365 Logistics, who, as always, took great care of our vehicles throughout the weekend.Next up for Team Twisted is the Great Yorkshire Show at Harrogate Show Ground, between Tuesday 11th and Tuesday 13th July, where we’ll once again be showcasing some of stunning Defender vehicles we’ve recently worked on. We look forward to seeing you all there.
